PARENT CONSULTATIONS

Supportive parents and family play an important role in advocating for their children and adolescents with talent and specific disabilities. Parents need to know that their children can achieve, often in a context outside the school setting. When it comes to providing help, I begin with a Parent Consultation (with or without their child, parent’s preference) to discuss evidence of strengths and areas of struggle both in and out of school. Parents’ confidential responses to a 2e survey provide the basis for the initial meeting. Using this survey, the consultations include a review of:

→ Educational-psychological testing data

→ School year report cards

→ Consultation survey results

→ Parent interview and feedback

→ And more, based on the child’s needs

As a Gifted Educator and Reading Specialist, I offer resources and tools to assist parents in the process of fostering their children’s talents and developing compensatory strategies for success, both in the classroom as well as in testing environments.
